The people who'd have to work out the money without you
Term life is not about you. It's a number that lands in someone else's account so their life doesn't come apart alongside their loss.

What you're actually insuring
The right amount of cover isn't a feeling — it's a sum. These are the obligations that don't stop when your income does.
What it would take
$285,000
The mortgage
So nobody has to sell the house in a bad month
$240,000
Years of income
Roughly four years to find steady ground
$96,000
Childcare
Because someone still has to do the pickups
$34,000
Student loans

$120,000
College fund
Two kids, in-state, kept on track
$9,000
Funeral costs
Settled in week one, not on a credit card
$18,000
Credit and car debt
Balances that would otherwise fall to family
$25,000
Breathing room
For the months nobody can plan for
That's about $827,000 — which sounds enormous until you notice a healthy thirty-year-old can cover it for roughly the price of a streaming bundle.
Every figure on this page is an illustrative placeholder for a portfolio build, not a quote or an offer of coverage.
What’s covered
- A tax-free lump sum to whoever you name
- A fixed price locked for your whole term
- Terms from 10 to 30 years
- Cover from $100,000 to $2,000,000
- No medical exam for most healthy applicants under 45
- The option to convert to permanent cover later
- Payout for any cause of death, at home or abroad
What’s not
- Death in the first two years by suicide — a standard clause, and the money is refunded
- Anything you didn't disclose honestly on the application
- Death while committing a felony
- War and active military conflict, in most terms
- Cover that continues past the end of your term
- Any cash value — term life builds none, by design
What a real claim looks like
The hardest possible week. Your beneficiary should not also be fighting an insurer.
Day 1
One phone call
A named person, not a queue. They stay with your family through the whole thing.
Day 2
We gather the paperwork
We request the certificate and records ourselves wherever the law lets us.
Day 4
Verified
Straightforward claims clear in days. We tell your family what's happening each day, unprompted.
Week 1
Paid
The full sum, tax-free, to the beneficiaries you named. No installments unless they ask.
An illustrative walkthrough written for this build. Timings are not a service guarantee, and complex claims still go to a person.
Term Life questions, answered
How much cover do I actually need?
A decent starting point is ten to fifteen times your annual income, adjusted for your mortgage and how many years of childcare are still ahead. The inventory above is the more honest version: add up what would genuinely need paying and insure that.
What does 'term' mean?
You're covered for a fixed number of years — commonly until the mortgage is gone and the kids are independent. If you outlive the term, nothing is paid out. That's precisely why it costs so little compared with whole-life products.
Why is it so much cheaper than whole life?
Because most term policies never pay out, and because there's no investment component bolted on. Whole life mixes insurance with a savings vehicle, and the savings part is usually a worse deal than simply investing the difference.
Do I need a medical exam?
Usually not. Most healthy applicants under 45 are approved on questions alone. Larger sums and some medical histories need a nurse visit, which we arrange at your home.
Can I change my beneficiaries?
Any time, as often as you like, in the app. It takes about a minute and it's worth revisiting after a marriage, a divorce, or a birth — an out-of-date beneficiary is the most common avoidable problem in life insurance.
